S4K's Romeo & Juliet - Marketing |
A couple of basics to start with:
-
The show is called "S4K's Romeo & Juliet"
-
It is a musical theatre adaptation of Shakespeare's classic "romcom" come tragedy - originally designed to be performed by 10 year-olds as the school play.
- Think of it as "Shakespeare 4 Kidz does for Shakespeare, what Oliver! did for Dickens" and you should understand the style of the show.
- We call this Music Theatre Shakespeare and we are regarded as the pioneers in this field.
- Branding the show S4K's Romeo & Juliet avoids any confusion with potential customers that this is a traditional production of the original text.
-
The show is a large-middle scale touring production with 13 cast, a live band and a crew of five.
-
Each performance lasts 2 hours and 10 minutes including a 20-minute interval.
-
Our audience demographic is varied:
junior and primary schools (8 - 11);
lower secondary schools (12 - 14) (especially evening shows);
GCSE students (15 - 16)
parents and grand-parents with their (grand)children (all ages).
Growing numbers at evening shows from repeat visitors who may have originally seen an S4K show with their junior school, but have now moved to secondary school.
-

S4K’s ROMEO AND JULIET
The Shakespearean Rom-Com with a tragic twist
With S4K due to film their adaptation of Romeo & Juliet in 2012, the original stage production takes to the road for a short tour.
It's love at first sight for the only two teenage children of the best of enemies. In Verona, Italy over just four hot summer days, they meet, fall in love and secretly marry, but their new-found love turns tragic. This hugely popular, easy-to-understand Shakespeare 4 Kidz musical adaptation of the most famous love story in the world "disneyfies" Shakespeare for everyone.
"The perfect introduction to Shakespeare."
