S4K's Macbeth - Primary Times Review
Macbeth

Shakespeare 4 Kidz on UK tour

Shakespeare can be a bit scary even for adults, never mind children.

Who remembers all those dry as dust English lessons trying to work out what the Bard was all about? Step forward Shakespeare 4 Kidz, an ingenious company which pares down the original prose, mixes all the best bits with modern language and throws some songs  and dances into the recipe to make a great easy-to-understand entertainment for people of ALL ages.

S4K’s Macbeth is currently on a UK tour and the show is well worth looking out for. There is plenty of menace and atmosphere thanks to the weird witches and excitement as Macbeth and his evil wife start their bloodthirsty regime of murder in  order to fulfill the prophecy that he will become King of Scotland.
Jason Lee Scott is a brilliantly brooding Macbeth with a wonderful voice and Emma Odell exudes a chilling aura of evil as his manipulative wife. Kirk Barker is the heroic Macduff (watch out for some nail-biting sword-fighting) and there’s a show-stopping comedy turn from Noel Andrew Harron as the drunken  porter who tells knock knock jokes, much to the delight of kids in the audience.

This is Macbeth with a twist: educational and entertaining. It makes an ideal school trip or family visit.

What they say about us:

S4K ROMEO: "A first class production. The script, crafted by Julian Chenery and Matt Gimblett, with the aid of Shakespeare's original words, ensured the story was easy for the youngsters to follow and contained the right mix of plain English and Shakespearian verse."
