S4K's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM
SIMPLY A DREAM COME TRUE ...
Fairies and fun, royalty and romance, magic and misunderstandings: S4K's A Midsummer Night’s Dream has them all. The Bard’s comedy gets a musical transformation from Shakespeare 4 Kidz, whose dazzling version has proved a huge hit every time it has toured.
Who can resist the story of a Duke marrying his Amazonian queen, two sets of lovers who elope into the woods where the audience finds Bottom and his funny friends rehearsing a play, feuding fairies and a naughty sprite called Puck, whose mismanaged magic causes no end of merriment?
It’s enchanting entertainment for people of all ages because the most famous lines are woven into easy-to-understand modern language. Simply a dream come true.
The perfect introduction to Shakespeare..
2010 CAST
Plenty of S4K favourites along with six new members of cast appear in the 2010/11 touring company of S4K’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Richard Munday, Macbeth on the international tour of S4K’s Macbeth earlier this year, returns as Oberon with Emily Jordan, making her S4K debut, as his reluctant wife Titania. Noel Andrew Harron as Puck, Antony Stuart Hicks as Quince, Sean Luckham as Bottom, Richard Foster King as Flute, Stevie Smallwood as Snout, Ben Goodridge as Snug and Clare Reilly as Helena complete the returning S4K regulars. They are joined by Gary Roe as Starveling, Harriet Dobby as Hermia, Luke Glover as Lysander, Harry Smith as Demetrius and Clare Coultry as First Fairy.
2011 CAST
For the spring season there have been a couple of changes in Dreamland: Tom Yeates and Olivia Chenery take over the roles of Theseus/Oberon and Hippolyta/Titania; Gary Roe moves to play Francis Flute; Thomas Hewitt steps up to Starveling and Glenn Lloyd joins the company as ASM/male understudy.
