“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is probably the Bard’s most popular comedy and has served as inspiration for countless artistic works, musical compositions, adaptations, movies, ballets and even operas. This version was created by a British company called Shakespeare 4 Kidz, and is a perfect introduction of the play to audiences of all ages. Although the script includes many of Shakespeare’s most memorable lines and beautiful text, most of it uses modern language that is easily understandable to our modern ears.
The cast features nearly 30 kids ages 4-17. There will be concessions in the lobby during intermission, and a chance to meet the actors and get autographs after the performance.
Whippoorwill Theatre works in partnership with West Des Moines Parks and Recreation to serve kids and families throughout West Des Moines and the Des Moines metro area. Located at Rex Mathes Auditorium at 1401 Vine St., in West Des Moines, Whippoorwill Theatre provides workshops, rehearsals, and performances for kids ages 6-18, as well as volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage for theatrical adults.

|What they say about us:|
S4K HAMLET: "We took our Year 5s, all 197 of them, to see S4K Hamlet at the Journal Tyne Theatre in Newcastle. It was the most amazing spectacle I think I have ever seen. The kids were transfixed from start to finish. I would even say it was better than the RSC production I saw a couple of years ago! All the kids talked about on the way back to school was how great it was and when were we going to see another one. I cannot praise the actors and other people involved in putting on this production highly enough. I loved it so much and can't wait or the next one. Congratulations and well done to everyone."
