Shakespeare 4 Kidz present

ROMEO AND JULIET

Friday 27 January 10.30am & 1.30pm, The Hawth Crawley

Children’s favourites Shakespeare 4 Kidz are back! The company will be at The Hawth with Romeo and Juliet in January.

S4K has introduced millions of young people to the magical world of Shakespeare over the last 15 years with its modern musical adaptations of not only Romeo and Juliet but also Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night, The Tempest and even Hamlet.

Children love the shows because they can understand them. The complicated stories and complex text are simplified by the use of modern language linking together the most famous and best-loved lines. And there are catchy songs and dances too.

Shakespeare’s tragedy of the star-crossed teenagers is the probably the most famous love story in the world. It’s been retold in countless ways since Shakespeare first put his play on stage some 400 years ago. But never has it been told in the same exuberant child-friendly way which Shakespeare 4 Kidz promise.

Love and hate, laughter and tears, politics and religion, power and passion – S4K’s Romeo and Juliet has got them all – and in a way everyone can relate to. The themes are as relevant and topical now as at any time in the play’s history and S4K are experts at putting the play’s message across with a unique balance of comedy and poignancy.

Children as young as eight can enjoy this show. And adults who have been put off Shakespeare because they remember boring lessons at school will be amazed at how it shakes up Shakespeare to tell the tale clearly and concisely.

Director and S4K founder Julian Chenery is thrilled to have one of his musicals on tour again.

“The theatres we have chosen to visit are places there is traditionally a massive demand to see us and where we have been playing to packed houses for years and years.”
