IT’S widely acknowledged as the greatest love story ever.

Now, though, you can rock and roll to the star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet!

Shakespeare 4 Kidz – the award-winning British theatre company that specialises in exciting, fun-filled musical adaptations of the Bard’s classic stories – is coming to the Journal Tyne Theatre this week with a vibrant production.

The group’s “music theatre Shakespeare-style” is a combination of Shakespearean and modern-day English.

There are also some unforgettable songs and dances, which help to enhance the powerful storytelling that has become the hallmark of all their work.

It allows theatre-lovers of all ages to enjoy Shakespeare with no fear of being unable to understand the language.

Two families. One long-standing feud. Four days. Two young people – destined to fall in love… and die!

When Romeo is persuaded by his friends to gatecrash the Capulets’ annual ball, he has no idea that he is about to meet the girl who will change his life – Juliet, the Capulets’ only daughter.

In a high-speed, roller-coaster of a story, the young couple instantly fall in love and they are secretly married the next day.

Romeo is banished from Verona after a street-fight turns to tragedy and Juliet’s arranged marriage to Count Paris is thwarted by a plan involving a potion conjured up by the kindly Friar Lawrence.

In a desperate race against time and fate, can Romeo get back to his bride’s side before it is too late?

Love and hate, laughter and tears, politics and religion, power and passion, S4K’s Romeo and Juliet – The Musical has it all.

It is perfect for schoolchildren studying Shakespeare at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 and especially useful for GCSE students wishing to clearly understand the famous classic.

S4K’s Romeo and Juliet – The Musical will be at the Journal Tyne Theatre, Newcastle, on Thursday .

What they say about us:

"Five kids, aged 5 to 16,in the car going back home last night singing, laughing and quoting Shakespeare were proof of yet another brilliant Shakespeare 4 Kidz production. I had a wonderful night too: watching the show myself and seeing my children have such a fantastic time."
