Lower Secondary Workshops

This interactive workshop complements the curriculum work for the Key Stage 3 English S.A.T. on Shakespeare. Pupils will progress through the entire play in 2 hours and explore areas such as character motivation, themes, morals, sympathy and empathy, language and choices of direction. The practical and interactive approach of the workshop allows the pupils to be constantly involved in the session and enables them to grasp the nature of the required questions on character and directional choices. This practice of embodying the characters is a proven success for Shakespeare 4 Kidz and makes Shakespeare’s work instantly alive and accessible. For the “S.A.T. plays” there can be a prolonged focus on the specific set scenes.

A comprehensive consolidation of questions and answers closes this workshop to ensure a thorough understanding of the play.

This 2-hour session enables pupils to have confidence in their ability to understand Shakespeare and to tackle the compulsory tests with real knowledge and practical insight.

What they say about us:

S4K ROMEO: "Thought you might be interested in the review of the performance of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at De Montfort Hall, Leicester on 1st February, written by my 8 year old daughter: Romeo and Juliet is a fantastic romantic tragedy play which is put to life in this wonderful production especially for Kidz. With song and dance, uplifting moments and tragic events. The world of Romeo and Juliet also has a moral: ‘Don’t keep war with other people or things that will hurt you very much will happen’. This moral is showed in this wonderful play. It is also understandable for children to help them get to know the story better. There are lots of hilarious Acts and some sad, moving, romantic ones too! The actors are brilliant; they deserve a big, well done! There are some of Shakespeare’s phrases mixed in, e.g. “Parting is such sweet sorrow”, and “Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?”."
