Junior Workshops

Each workshop lasts for two hours and is run by two actors with teaching knowledge and experience. The aim of the workshop is to progress through the entire play examining the plot and the relevant characters. The students take part in physical performance as well as discussion and are encouraged to contribute ideas throughout. Up to 40 children act out the story of each play meeting the characters and thinking through the twists and turns of the plot for themselves, discovering character’s motivations for their actions and words.

“Worth every penny, not only for the children but also the staff. Great insight into the work of Shakespeare makes it a much less daunting task to teach. Excellent!”

English Co-ordinator

There are some physical exercises where the whole group is active as well as periods when pupils play specific roles within the play. Here discussions on what is happening and what the characters feel are encouraged.

Includes simple costumes and props.

What they say about us:

"To any teachers who think it might be too 'dumbed down' for top set Year 9 students: don't be fooled. Over the years, every single friend we have invited along to these performances has fallen under the spell. One child (who subsequently came in the top 5 in the country for GCSE English)said that she understood and enjoyed the S4K Macbeth much better than anything they were doing at school for KS3 SATS. It is Shakespeare 4 Kidz that inspired my eldest to take A Level English Literature. Both she and my middle child have now read several original Shakespeare play for pleasure and now enjoy quoting their favourite passages."
