To enhance the work already completed at school, by focusing on the work from a professional actor’s and director’s perspective.

The key to the success of our Key Stage 4 GCSE Shakespeare Workshops is the empathetic style we have developed and refined through years of experience. Up to 30 pupils are involved in the session which is specifically tailored to the focus of study for their GCSE coursework.

OUR AIM:

  • To create a stimulating, accessible session in which we support the work done in the classroom while offering a unique approach to understanding the text through pupils’ practical interaction with professional actors.
  • To create a safe environment in which every pupil will feel that their contribution is valued
  • To demystify Shakespeare; making his work accessible whilst staying true to his style and content
  • To add value to class studies and enhance the standard of coursework through practical engagement with skilled and experienced professional actors

CONTENT: Each workshop lasts for two hours and is run by two professional actors with teaching knowledge and experience. The aim of the workshop is to further pupils’ understanding of the play through interactive split group sessions in which pupils will actively take part in investigating areas of theme, character, language, staging and historical context. Up to 30 pupils can be involved in a single session, all actively involved throughout.

What they say about us:

S4K ROMEO: "Making Shakespeare accessible to primary school-aged children is a problem that has been challenging theatre companies across the world for generations, and it is just as well that there are companies such as Shakespeare 4 Kidz to take up the challenge and to do it so well."
