Ben Goodridge
Lord Capulet |
|
|
From a very young age Ben showed an interest in the theatre joining a local dance and drama school at the age of only 3! (Although I’m sure his parents had something to do with this!)
He learnt his first lessons in pantomime, playing such roles as “Tom the Cat” in Dick Whittington, “Boy Babe” in Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood and “The Baby Dragon” in Jack and the Beanstalk. (An endearing performance so I’m told!).
Since then Ben has kept himself busy touring the UK and the Middle East, (Dubai and the Arab states, not just Sussex!) with many various productions, his CV is endless so we wont bore you to death, but a couple of gems include: Banquo in S4K’s Macbeth and Sebastian in S4K’s The Tempest. In 2006 he released a world cup song entitled “ We Can’t Smile Without Roo!“, a parody of Barry Manilow’s I Can’t Smile Without You, all about Wayne Rooney’s broken foot! (They even got the word “Metatarsal” in!), needless to say, it did about as well as the England Football Team!! He can also claim to have had breakfast with Peter Kay on the set of That Peter Kay Thing, the series that launched his career! (Peter Kay’s that is!)
Leaving aside Ben’s dreams of World Cup glory and wanting to drop names, he has been in numerous productions in Theatre, Film and Television all over the UK, most recently playing Snug the Joiner in S4K’s National and International tour of A Midsummer Nights Dream, and can regularly be found in panto land, somewhere in the UK every Christmas, playing either the comic or a rather dodgy Ugly Sister alongside another S4K favorite, Richard Foster-King!!
This is Ben’s fourth year with Shakespeare 4 Kidz and is thoroughly enjoyed his time revisiting the role of Lord Capulet, especially as he gets to boss the boss’s daughter around!!
